Donald B. Ardell
Publisher of the Ardell Wellness Report — St. Petersburg, FL
Donald B. Ardell is an outspoken freethinker who promotes a philosophy of REAL wellness, “REAL” being an acronym for Reason, Exuberance, Athleticism and Liberty - the four dimensions of a lifestyle conducive to well being and happiness. Don is a devotee of Robert Green Ingersoll and often performs a variety of speeches, poems and quotations from the works of "Royal Bob," “The Great Agnostic” of America’s Gilded Age.
In presentations around the country and the world since 1977, Don has integrated the highlights of his books and Wellness Reports about wellness with his three favorite topics related to current events, namely politics, sex and religion. He also offers entertaining lectures on a subject on which he has considerable experience - aging, specifically the art and science of aging well.
Don's presentations address principles and possibilities for finding added meaning and purpose, humor and joy amidst the challenges of weight gain/stress, political correctness, religion and obstacles to vigorous daily exercise. His focus is always on positive, enjoyable ways to live better, not the usual emphasis on reducing risks, giving up bad habits or otherwise addressing matters medical and boring.
Don has degrees from The George Washington University, The University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), Stanford University and The Union Institute. Don has received lifetime achievement awards from the Global Wellness Institute
, the National Wellness Institute
, the German Wellness Institute and the Brazilian Wellness Association. He is one of ten Americans given the Healthy America Fitness Leaders Award in 1991 by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, Allstate Insurance Company and the U.S. Jaycees.
Don is an All-American triathlete and duathlete and has won over a dozen national titles and seven world championships including most recently in London, Edmonton, Budapest, the Gold Coast of Australia, Montreal and Tasmania. He has produced nearly a thousand editions of the Ardell Wellness Report beginning in 1984. His expertise is in providing entertaining lectures on REAL wellness (with an emphasis on secular humanist values) and assisting organizations transition into effective, rational cultures that support the common decencies.
