Ian Robinson is President Emeritus of the Rationalist Society of Australia and Chairman of the Rationalist Association of Australia. He has been active in the Australian rationalist movement for more than forty years since as a student he became President of the University of Melbourne Rationalist Society back in 1967.
He studied philosophy and history and philosophy of science at the University of Melbourne and subsequently worked as a tutor in Philosophy at that University, a lecturer in Philosophy of Education at Coburg Teachers' College, a senior curriculum developer for the Victoria Ministry of Education, and Manager of the Music and Writing Department at Chisholm Institute, where he taught writing and editing for fifteen years. He has been editor of a number of journals, including The Australian Rationalist, and written many articles and books on a wide variety of topics. His essay "Atheism as a Spiritual Path" appeared in The Australian Book of Atheism (ed. Warren Bonett)
He was a featured speaker at the 2010 Global Atheists Convention in Melbourne.
Ian Robinson has been researching and writing about atheism, religion, cults, the paranormal and related issues for forty years and has delivered numerous public lectures and taken part in public debates with believers on these topics.
