From nearly half a century of paranormal investigating, Nickell shares the philosophical, ethical, and common-sense conclusions he has reached in favor of an investigative approach to strange mysteries. Citing case studies, he shows how much more satisfying—and successful—this positive attitude is, as opposed to a dismissive, "debunking," and fundamentally negative one.

Joe Nickell

Joe Nickell, PhD—a former stage magician, private detective, and scholar—is CSI's Senior Research fellow. Believed to be the world's only full-time, professional, science-based paranormal investigator, he is the author of numerous books and has been profiled in The New Yorker and on The Today Show. Hilary Swank's role in The Reaping was based in part on Nickell's work as a miracle detective.
