Winter Solstice Celebration 2014
Celebrate the season secularly! The CFI–Western New York Winter Solstice Celebration is free for all—CFI members, non-members, and students. This is a family-friendly event and all are welcome, including children.
The event will be catered by Zetti’s, with the same great food we’ve served for the past 2 years and the addition of more child-friendly options. We ask that everyone bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Please be sure to RSVP by December 17th at noon so we have an accurate head count.
Volunteer Recognition Awards will be given for the year to some of our outstanding local members.Friends of Night People and the Freethought Books Project. This year we will be collecting the following items:
- New and/or gently used socks, hats, and gloves (men’s clothing is especially needed)
- New personal care items (deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, lotion, lip balm)
- Non-perishable food (dry and canned goods, coffee and hot chocolate, cookies, desserts)
- New and/or used books in the genre of atheist, humanist, freethought, science, sci-fi, or secular literature (for the Freethought Books Project, to be donated to non-religious inmates)
You can bring these items by the center anytime between now and December 20, and we’ll be collecting them in a bin by the front entrance. Thank you for giving back and supporting folks in need in our Western New York community and beyond.
We look forward to seeing you at the CFI–Western New York Winter Solstice Celebration. If you have any trouble registering or would prefer to RSVP by phone or email, you can reach us at 716-636-4869 ext. 402 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
